About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The JROI - Journal of Radiation Oncology Informatics covers any scientific topics related to radiation oncology informatics including medical physics informatics, imaging informatics, radiation and medical oncology informatics.

The journal accepts contributions as original articles, reviews, technical notes or viewpoints.

Peer Review Process

All submission to JROI are reviewed by at least two reviewers. The names of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors unless signed by the reviewer. Based on the journal's review criteria, the reviewers provide detailed feedback to the author and recommend acceptance, revision or rejection of the manuscript. The editors make the final decision. A manuscript may be accepted subject to revisions, in which case the author is expected to submit a revised manuscript together with an item by item list of changes as soon as possible, but not later than 2 months after receipt of the editorial decision. The articles are published immediately after acceptance of the revised manuscript. The editorial policy is aimed towards fast publication; the delay between submission and publication lies typically between two and four months.

Open Access Policy

The Journal of Radiation Oncology Informatics is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access. Users are allowed to read, download, copy or use the content for any lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. The content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

The Journal of Radiation Oncology Informatics does not charge any article processing charges (APCs) or article submission charges (ASCs) and does allow the author(s) to hold the copyright without restrictions.

Publication Ethics and Conflicts of Interests

The Journal of Radiation Oncology Informatics endeavours to ensure the high quality of its publications. It adheres to high standards of ethical behaviour and expects them to be adhered by all parties involved in the publication. This includes the author, journal editor, peer reviewers and publisher. The Journal of Radiation Oncology Informatics follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for the preservation of scientific integrity.

The editorial office will check for potential conflicts of interests before contacting reviewers. In cases where such conflicts occur despite these efforts, reviewers are kindly asked to inform the editor, especially if they have previously co-authored publications, have worked directly together or have a personal relationship (e.g. family, close friend) with the author. 

Plagiarism

The Journal of Radiation Oncology Informatics is commited to publish only original material that has not already been published or reviewed elsewhere. Any manuscript that raises concerns about plagiarism will be checked and cases of plagiarism will be sanctioned.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers, authors and editors must disclose any and all possible financial or non-financial conflict of interest in regard to the manuscript. If unsure, the journal editor should be contacted.

Archiving

To ensure the long-term availability of scientific information, the contents of the journal are archived with LOCKSS.
