However, the material and motor components of writing are often neglected in this framework. Recent empirical research show that the acquisition of basic transcription skills, including physical and corporeal dimensions, is an important pre-condition to successful advanced writing skills learning. This article defines the concept of basic transcription skills and their role in the acquisition of writing production skills, as well as their importance for writing instruction.
