Aims and Scope

Educational sciences have been facing many challenges in a constantly evolving social landscape for many years. In parallel, they have known an unprecedented development with regard to their institutionalisation, to the expansion of the networks of researchers, to the densification of international relations, to the multiplication of research projects and to the anchoring of teacher training at tertiary level. They also have to respond to the field solicitations at a cantonal or federal level. Educational sciences are today, as in the past, entrusted to develop quality scientific research in an autonomous manner to serve the community. This research can only exist and evolve if educational sciences are fully recognized as a legitimate scientific discipline by its privileged interlocutors namely by the academic community in general but also by the professionals and representatives of the political world.

All these reasons justify the fact that the Swiss Society for Research in Education SSRE/SGBF fully supports its journal, the Swiss Journal of Educational Research founded in 1978, a demanding journal which participates to the exchange of ideas both at a national and international level. Indeed, the Swiss Journal of Educational Research promotes research studies conducted in Swiss and international research institutes located in regions with different and complementary cultural and scientific traditions. The access to studies published in the Swiss Journal of Educational Research is now even more convenient since all articles are digitally published and immediately and freely accessible (Open Access with no embargo period).

Publication frequency

The journal is published three times a year.
