Abstract

The contemporary Spanish short story has experienced a certain boom in the last decades of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century. The fantastic, a new realism and metaliterature are the most cultivated tendencies among the multiplicity of approaches. In this article, we analyze the work of four representative authors of different generations: Luis Mateo Díez, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Pilar Adón and Jon Bilbao. Some critical theories of Claus Clüver, William John Thomas Mitchell, Marc Augé and Ann Morris and Maggie Dunn, among others, support our approach to the volumes of stories by these writers.
