The role of the «metaphorical engine» in discourse formation: the Central American context from the perspective of Cultural Rhetoric

Abstract

The purpose of our paper is to investigate the role of the metaphorical engine in the formation of Central American literary discourse from the perspective of Cultural Rhetoric. Thus, our paper consists of three parts: after an introduction, in the first part we will comment the place of Cultural Rhetoric within Cultural Studies and highlight the peculiarities of the theoretical model of metaphor and metaphorical engine; in the second part we will describe the characteristics of genre, society and culture within the Central American context and observe the metaphorization of the city in the Central American novel; in the third part we will offer the conclusions of the work done.
