Latin America has created its own heroes throughout its history, some of them were inherited from the European legacy while others are survivors of indigenous legends, and many of them are modern, contemporary creations. But only those that, in one way or another, coincide with the heroic archetype have transcended in cultural and social imagination. Two of them stand out because of their popularity and permanence in the taste of the public: Santo, el Enmascarado de Plata, and Kalimán, el hombre increíble. In this article we analyze the way in which these characters were built so to explain their cultural importance.Downloads
