Abstract

Abstract: Nea Paphos-seat of the strategos during the Ptolemaic era and of the proconsul after its annexation to the dominions of Rome-remains basically a Hellenistic city until late imperial times. Although numerous archaeological missions are devoted to the activity, one of the aspects still to be clarified remains that of the gymnasium and its relationship to the agora. Through the analysis of inscriptions and comparisons with other known monuments of the Ptolemaic reign, an attempt will be made to shed light on this aspect. It will contribute to the location of the building and its relationship to the agora.
