Based on the reflections of Walter Benjamin and Ricardo Piglia on the figure of the narrator, this article analyses the novels La sombra del púgil (2008) and Un padre extranjero (2016) by Eduardo Berti. If travel and research are forms of narration and modes of knowledge, this article studies how stories and knowledge circulate in both texts. The multiplicity of points of view does not create a zone of certainties but shapes a knowledge marked by silences, mystery and secrets. From the modes of knowledge accessed through the stories, the absent is glimpsed and desires emerge.
Keywords: secret, silence, narrator, experience, desire.
