Musical expression in the sense of communicating feelings is central to the performance of music. However, how musical expression is integrated into instrumental teaching with young learners has not yet been researched in depth. In this dissertation project, an empirical-qualitative research approach is used to investigate which methods are used in German speaking countries to promote musical expression in instrumental lessons with young learners.
