Abstract

Traditional mass media are increasingly subjected to a rigorous analysis of their linguistic productions and to a continuous monitoring of the representations they make of the Other (Alarcón 2004). For this reason, we observe that, from a certain direct and ordinary disqualification in the early nineties (El-Madkouri Maataoui 2009), a series of communication strategies has been adopted with subtle linguistic constructions: what they say and what they want to say have different objectives and they constitute what has been called “microracisms”.

In fact, the academic and social pressure during the last decades, along with a more informed intellectual conscience, in addition to the active presence of this Other among us, have also caused the reduction of macroracism, producing, instead, microdiscursive manifestations that elude regulation and social rejection.

However, there is another discursive manifestation to which less attention has been paid: the metaphorization of the other and its conversion into a caricature of himself. In the present investigation we focus precisely on the analysis and description of the metaphorization and caricature of the Other through the reproduced discourse.
