Abstract
The article addresses the challenges involved in preserving and financing private sector archives in Switzerland and suggests possible solutions. Drawing on the case studies of four collections held in the Swiss Economic Archives and the Archives of Contemporary History various financing models are analysed. The study shows how public and private record institutions can work together to preserve archives of businesses and organisations and make them accessible. Particular attention is paid to the role of public-private partnerships and crowdfunding as promising approaches for the future. In addition, the article emphasises the importance of cooperation and coordination between the various archival institutions engaged in preserving the country’s economic heritage.
