Human-centered Artificial Intelligence for gender-inclusive language evolution

Abstract

Achieving linguistic inclusivity in artificial intelligence systems cannot be accomplished by technological advancements alone. This paper underscores the necessity of a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach involving linguists, sociologists, software developers, and policymakers to ensure that AI-driven language technologies are not only technically robust but also culturally sensitive and ethically sound. Equally crucial is the active engagement of end-users in the design and implementation of inclusive AI systems, fostering a sense of empowerment rather than imposition.

Promoting inclusive language through AI is therefore not merely a technical endeavor, but a shared social responsibility.
