This work studies the social and cultural lexicon that is collected in the testates successions documented in Jaén during 18th century, to know, from the lexical sphere, the attitude to death and the cultural aspects of popular religiosity that are transferred to these documents. The investigation is based on the archive documents linked to the Corpus histórico del Santo Reino (CONHSANRE) – inTEXTA group research project of the University of Jaén on the Red Charta. The historical framework of the corpus analyzed is fixed in the 18th century, although the corpus covers document studies between the 13th and 19th centuries. Methodologically, it has been worked with notarial documentation of the Provincial Historical Archive of Jaén on this subject. The documents have been subjected to a rigorous triple-edition system (facsimile, paleographic transcription and critical presentation, according to criteria collected by the Red Charta), this allows full use of the text. A small list of voices is also shown to access the physical, social and ideological space of speakers and their behavior in all social patterns of death behavior, –well sphere of activity studied in the field research of History and legal language, but not much studied from the lexicological social perspective.
