Abstract

The mobility processes of minors who migrate alone is a global phenomenon that, however, has received little academic attention from contextual studies of language, particularly in the Spanish case. In this research we analyze, according to the theory of sociolinguistic scales, the scope, access and value of the languages that make up the set of sociolinguistic relations attached to a residential center for unaccompanied foreign minors in Aragon. We start from a palimpsestic view of the migrant children protection space and from the triangulation of data obtained through the analysis of the center's documentation and ethnographic data elaborated from semi-directed interviews conducted with the actors involved in the center's residential dynamics: the minors, the educational team and the center's management. The results show the interactional dominance of Spanish and Dariya, the reproduction of the ideology of integration through language and various processes of sociolinguistic rescaling that affect minority languages in the center, such as Mandinka.
