About the Journal
About the Journal
Linguistik online is one of the oldest online journals for linguistics. It has been founded in 1998 at the faculty for cultural sciences of the European University Viadrina with the aim of making sure that in times of shrinking library budgets linguistic papers would remain available for as many people as possible. It has been free of charge from day one for authors as well as readers. Apart from “miscellaneous” issues that cover a broad range of linguistic subjects, there are also regularly issues on special aspects that are often edited by guest editors.
Languages used in the journal:
Linguistik online sees itself as an international journal with a European base, and therefore articles can be published in all European languages. However, the following point should be taken into account:
- We have to be able to find reviewer who can read the article in the respective languages
- special characters that are used only in some languages might sometimes lead to problems
- the number of people who are able to read the paper depends largely on the language used.
Therefore, Linguistik online would advise its authors to limit themselves to “bigger” European languages like English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish.
Reviewing system:
In order to abide by scientific standards, articles can only be published if they have been approved by two members of the academic advisory council. Reviews are double-blind. At the moment, the following scientists are members of the advisory board:
