Fotos is a weekly graphic magazine that appeared in February, 1939 in the city of San Sebastián as a propaganda organ for the nationalists during the civil war. Its pages include humorous vignettes centered around the disqualification of republican forces in the midst of the contest. Within these stories is a series titled “5 minutos de buen humor. Zona roja” that was signed by Sánchez-Vázquez, came to light in 1938, and was published by the end of the war. In some of the texts, phraseological units appear frequently. The following pages seek to characterize and analyze the functions of these units within a humorous discourse.
