This paper reflects on the reasons why the Spanish language in the Western Sahara has not been studied by the traditional Hispanic dialectology. I will focus on the fact that this variety is immersed in complex polyglossic dynamics that cannot be explained through structuralist epistemologies. In this paper I propose to analyze the language practices related to the Spanish of the Western Sahara taking into account dynamic and heteroglossic approaches to multilingualism, whilst problematizing some methodological aspects.
