BOP guarantees immediate free access to its content according to the BOAI definition of Open Access. The rights to the content remain with the authors. Publications are released under a Creative Commons License (CC BY 4.0).

BOP is a Diamond Open Access service in which authors pay no publishing fees (Author Processing Charges, APCs) and readers do not pay access or subscription fees. Exceptions are made for individual journals that cover their production costs during the transformation to Diamond Open Access with a small publication fee. The charging of such fees must be clarified with BOP in advance.
