Infrastructure and technology
BOP provides editors and authors with the editorial and publishing systems OJS (for journals) and OMP (for books). OJS (Open Journal System) and OMP (Open Monograph Press) are open source products maintained and developed by an international community around the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). The Open Access Team is an active member of this community and participates in other projects and collaborations that improve the conditions for Diamond OA publications.
BOP advises and trains editors and provides technical support.
BOP provides tools and workflows for the production of final formats.
BOP can recommend third-party services upon request (editing, proofreading, image processing, etc.). The cost of these services is borne by the editors or authors.
BOP assigns permanent identifiers (ISSN, ISBN, DOI) to its publications.
Indexing and discoverability
BOP’s published books and journals are indexed in major directories and thus discoverable in the relevant databases, catalogs and search engines.
BOP disseminates new publications through its social media channels and other UB Bern communication channels.
To ensure the long-term availability of the scientific information, all BOP content is archived with LOCKSS.
