This paper focuses on two kinds of prohibition, both of them expressed by the Real Academia Española between 1870 and 1880: the first one is doctrinal and the second one is idiomatic. Both have common points that the study will approach, in order to evidence the ideology that underlies them. This study points out the influence of comparative grammar on the change in attitude of the academic grammarians from 1870.
